What will 13.2 be crossfit
The 'never ending clock' idea. Maybe Diane, Elizabeth, Amanda, or a new combination. Will the nasty Fran couplet of thrusters and pull-ups rear its ugly head again? Possibly… but hopefully they will mix in one more movement like burpees or double unders so it doesn't feel too repetitive. Easy to judge, but very demanding. Again, unlikely to threepeat. AND was a repeat of a previous ascending format. With a barbell movement and a kipping movement on a pull-up bar. Pretty similar. But most importantly, it was boring. And the format was used in and as a repeat. Efficiency was key here, so I made sure to have smooth transitions from presses to deadlifts, which meant not dropping the bar. But my technique was just short of terrible, and calamity struck early. I tripped on my first round of box jumps. I tried to shake it off.
I told myself not to watch the time and to just keep plowing through, which I did. But on the second round, I overshot the box, landing with all my weight on the far side of the box and tipping it over.
Then it was back to the bar. The deadlifts were easy but deceptive. I rushed through them and was huffing and puffing when I went back to the box. The last thing you want at the start of a series of box jumps is to be out of breath. That quick hop from the ground to the box slowed to a jump up and a step down.
I regularly won or did very well at local competitions. By competing well, I knew that I could do well at certain workouts, and others would be damage control.
I generally did well at higher skill workouts, and would have to dig deep for low skill breathers. Light barbell and an ass load of box jumps. It is the CrossFit equivalent of running as far as your can in 10 minutes. I knew when this was announced that this would be all damage control.
I was in a good, but not great spot. I felt like I would need 10 plus rounds, or reps. One nuance with this workout was that you could step up the box jumps.
The first time I did the workout, I was cruising. I jumped every rep and moved the barbell fast.
