Ronny Markes defeated Aaron Simpson by split decision , , Simpson and Markes are separated by 14 years in age, but they were very evenly matched in ability when they met at Wednesday's event.

The year-old Markes looked strong at the start of his middleweight debut, but a heavy right hand from Simpson quickly swayed the momentum. Simpson looked to finish the Brazilian in the first round, but Markes survived and battled back in the remaining rounds.

Markes was able to secure close second and third rounds by taking down Simpson, an All-American wrestler, towards the end of the frames. The Nova Uniao product has won 12 of his 13 professional fights and could be a force to be reckoned with in a middleweight division that could be changing quickly as champion Anderson Silva nears retirement.

Stipe Miocic defeated Philip De Fries by knockout punches at of the first round. Coming off of a win in his UFC debut, De Fries landed a few big right hands at the start of the fight, but a straight punch from Miocic led to the first loss of the Englishman's career.

Already scoring impressive wins over De Fries and Joey Beltran, the undefeated Miocic is a very promising up-and-coming fighter in a heavyweight division that could use a few new contenders. Dillashaw defeated Walel Watson by unanimous decision , , Dillashaw worked hard for a takedown at the start of the fight and completely out-classed Watson once the fight went to the ground. The Team Alpha Male product rinsed and repeated in the second and third rounds, which earned him a unanimous decision on the scorecards.

Watson, who is now in the UFC, threatened with some submission attempts in the final round, but it was too little too late after being completely controlled in the first two rounds.

Watson probably gained new respect from many for surviving through such a lopsided fight, though. It would have been nice to see the year-old Dillashaw finish one of the many rear-naked chokes that he nearly secured, but it was an impressive performance nonetheless for the potential future star. Ivan Menjivar defeated John Albert by submission rear-naked choke at of the first round.
