Why meekness is not weakness

It is something only Jesus can give—through the cross and resurrection, his definitive work of saving meekness.

In his suffering and death upon the cross, Jesus was the strong one who, in an exertion of heroic meekness, bore up under the assault of the arrogant and the proud and took on the sins of the slanderers and accusers in order to obey his Father.

And it is precisely in that meekness that Jesus achieved our salvation. On the other side of his death, he has received the good inheritance of the resurrection. This resurrection is both the vindication of his righteousness against all the lies of his enemies, as well as the firstfruits of the promised New Creation 1 Cor. Therefore, all who look to him in faith and hope will inherit the new heavens and new earth in their own resurrection.

Only as we come to know this truth can we gain the strength to walk in the powerful meekness of Jesus. Have something to say about this topic? Let us know here. Have something to add about this? See something we missed?

But no matter where we are, the Bible offers truth and guidance to help us know Jesus better, grow closer to Him, live victoriously through Him, and experience the joy of sharing Him with others. Trusted resources from trusted leaders are often helpful to us as we go through life.

Pastor Adrian Rogers is a trusted voice, and these are some of Love Worth Finding's most recommended and bible-based resources for finding, growing, and sharing your faith no matter where you are on your own journey. God gives us His Word and the Holy Spirit to equip us to share our faith with the world. These resources are designed for small groups, individuals, pastors, families, and mentors providing one-on-one discipleship.

Love Worth Finding's purpose is to bring people to Christ and mature them in the faith. This happens primarily through efforts in publishing and broadcasting biblical truth. Meekness enables us to do what is right in our ministry and in whatever we do. Meekness had become flesh in Jesus. It had become a part of His nature. This can also be our experience if we are diligent to come to Him and learn from Him. God be praised! Being too hasty in word and deed are possibly two of the most frequent weaknesses in people.

They speak and act before they have thought about it, and one of the consequences is that they say and do things that they regret soon after — things that harm themselves and others. They lack meekness if this is the way they behave. Meekness causes a person to consider his actions before he acts hastily. Therefore, what a person says and does will be said and done in a completely different manner than if he had acted impulsively.

Quite often he will stop doing altogether what he had thought to say or do. Of course we know that, but let us take it thoroughly to heart: swift to hear, slow to speak! We have this advantage if we are meek. Quite often we can experience e. No, he interrupts, and quite often both of them will be speaking at the same time.
