In the books, this will later cost Pettigrew his life when he hesitates to kill Harry in Deathly Hallows and his silver hand instead fatally strangles him for defying Lord Voldemort. What does she actually say? Answer: "Harry, for goodness sake! Answer: I just watched the clip on YouTube. Hermione says, "Go on Harry. My goodness. Answer: They probably think Cedric is cute and look at each other to see if the other one thinks the same.
Both definitely think Cedric is cute and are acknowledging that to one another, possibly hoping he will be interested in return. Question : When Harry, Ron , and Hermione are on the train to Hogwarts, the trolley of food comes by and Ron asks for two items but then changes his mind and only gets one. Was there something specific that made him not want the second item?
Answer: Ron realised he didn't have enough money to pay for both. The Weasley family was poor, and Ron often had to do with much less than his peers.
This sometimes caused friction between him and Harry, whose parents had left him a small fortune. Question : This goes for both the the movies and the books. Why does Karkaroff keep trying to talk to Snape?
Chosen answer: Because both of them are former Death Eaters who have the Dark Mark branded on their arm. Karkaroff's was getting stronger, so he kept trying to talk to Snape to get information if he had any, as he was convinced that Snape was still a Death Eater as we saw in the book in the trial scene.
Karkaroff was terrified of the prospect of returning to Voldemort, as he had betrayed several Death Eaters to the law when he was caught. Question : When the fake Professor Moody is in his office with Harry, revealing everything he did, Dumbledore charges into the room with Professors McGonagall and Snape. All three of them are prepared to attack when they enter. How did they figure out that something was wrong?
Answer: When it was noticed that Harry was missing during the commotion surrounding Cedric's death, someone in the crowd saw Moody leading Harry away and tipped off Dumbledore. Dumbledore knew that the real Moody never would have taken Harry away like that without telling anyone. Also, Snape is a legilimens able to read minds and would be able to "hear" Harry and Moody's thoughts. Answer: Adding to the other point, you wouldn't take a child who mentioned Voldemort's return away without the inquiry so Dumbledore must have realised that Moody was trying to get Harry away from the situation.
Question : Why does Barty Crouch Jr. Surely the minister's son could easily claim that the desperate prisoner trying to get out of jail's claim is completely false.
And was the man in prison in that scene the Damstrung headmaster, and if yes, is that why he and Moody Crouch were so suspicious of each other in the trophy room right after Harry's name was drawn? Chosen answer: Even though Barty Jr. Some can circumvent its effect, but Barty was not a talented enough wizard to do this.
The prisoner who implicated him in that scene was Igor Karkaroff, who became headmaster of Durmstrang, the wizard school that was participating in the Triwizard Tournament.
Karkiroff was a Death Eater who defected to Dumbledore 's side. Moody a disguised Barty Jr. Karkaroff had been previously pursued and captured by the real Mad Eye Moody, and would naturally have a negative reaction to being around him.
Answer: Barty Crouch Jr. They refused to deny their allegiance. This differs from the book, where Barty does protest his innocence, but his father refuses to spare him mercy to set an example. Question : What exactly was happening when Harry casted red sparks with his wand in the maze? All things just seemed to get more aggressive. Did Dumbledore say to Harry that he can use red sparks if he want to give up?
Igor Karkaroff who is interrogated in prison by? Barty Crouch Sr. Mad-Eye Moody who dies while flying with? Mundungus Fletcher. Oct 11, Who is karkaroff interrogated by? In the — school year , the Triwizard Tournament was held for the first time in many years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. From the moment of his arrival at Hogwarts, it was obvious that Karkaroff was heavily biased towards the champion from his own school, Viktor Krum.
It was apparent that Karkaroff and "Moody" not only knew each other, but had an unpleasant history. Karkaroff unsuccessfully tried to avoid "Moody" after that first evening. He also sneaked around to gather information on the tasks in hopes of giving Krum an advantage. He also ruthlessly insulted Dumbledore when Crouch attacked Krum in the shadows and accused him of foul-play, going as far as spitting on the ground at Dumbledore's feet.
However, this nearly earned him significant physical injury at the hands of Rubeus Hagrid ; Hagrid, fervently loyal to Dumbledore, lifted Karkaroff by the throat, smashed him against a tree and yelled at him to apologise for this disgusting display. Dumbledore, however, ordered Hagrid to let him go, to which he complied reluctantly. Karkaroff present at the Yule Ball. About halfway through the school year, Karkaroff's actions became increasingly suspicious.
At the Yule Ball , which he attended with Professor Aurora Sinistra , and again after a Potions lesson, he confronted Professor Snape about a secret matter. His agitated and increasingly apprehensive state aroused the suspicions of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley , and Hermione Granger.
Snape admitted that Karkaroff had come to him, concerned about the Dark Mark on his left forearm, a mark Snape also bore as a former Death Eater. Barty Crouch Jnr doubted he would get far, as the Dark Lord had "ways of tracking his enemies" and no one who had ever betrayed the Dark Lord ever got far. Contrary to Crouch's belief, Karkaroff was able to stay alive for a whole year, fleeing to parts unknown, though a possible contribution is that Voldemort was trying to keep a low profile due to the Ministry's denial at the time.
Inevitably, however, Karkaroff was finally tracked down to a shack in the north and killed by Death Eaters, the Dark Mark cast into the sky, shortly after Voldemort's revival was finally accepted by the Ministry, which further enforced that his year-long survival was due to the Death Eaters keeping under the radar at the time.
This was revealed to the assembled guests of Harry Potter 's sixteenth birthday party by Remus Lupin , who, among others, were surprised Karkaroff had survived for so long. Karkaroff was described to be tall and thin like Albus Dumbledore , but with an unctuously cheerful demeanour, while his smile "didn't reach his eyes", which were blue and remained cold and unmoving.
His weak chin was not completely covered by his goatee, which ended with a small curl. His teeth were yellow and he liked to dress in sleek, silver furs. As a former Death Eater , he bore the Dark Mark on his left inner forearm. Karkaroff was a ruthless and immoral man, having been a Death Eater in his youth and a turncoat when it suited him, as well as showing blatant favouritism as a judge of the Triwizard Tournament to increase the chances that his school 's champion, Viktor Krum , would win.
During his trial, Igor feigned regret and flattery to the judges, showing him to be a talented actor and liar, a skill Sirius Black informed Harry Potter of. Despite his position as headmaster of Durmstrang, he showed neither responsibility nor care for his students, as he encouraged an atmosphere of fear and intimidation at Durmstrang while it was under his stewardship, forcing his students to steer the ship while he stayed in the cabin, harshly scolding Poliakoff in contrast to doting on the famous Krum, and then ultimately abandoned all of them to protect his own life, showing his immense selfishness, egotism and cowardice.
His membership in the Death Eater organisation and implementation — or, at least, continuation — of a policy of refusing to admit Muggle-borns to Durmstrang , indicated that Karkaroff was prejudiced against those of different blood status though if so he had did not seem to have the level of sadistic, genocidal hatred possessed by other Death Eaters such as Bellatrix Lestrange and Yaxley.
Nevertheless, Karkaroff was at least during his time with the Death Eaters , something of a sadist, as he was noted to have assisted Dolohov in torturing Muggles, and even after he "reformed" during his headship of Durmstrang, he encouraged an environment where intimidation and fear rule over the school, leading parents to see him as unprincipled and egotistical.
Even his warm greeting to Albus Dumbledore when he came to Hogwarts was less proof of a civil nature, and more proof of his ability to play at civility when it suited him. This is supported by his later yelling at Dumbledore after Harry Potter's name came out of the Goblet of Fire, and even spitting at his feet. Although Karkaroff proved himself to be a skilled actor and liar, he was also poor with controlling his emotions, as his short-temper led him to become increasingly angry and rude at Dumbledore and the British Ministry of Magic for allowing Harry to participate in the Triwizard Tournament that culminated to him spitting in front of Dumbledore's feet.
His lack of bravery led him to continuously bombard Snape about the Dark Mark's increasing colour, constantly expressing a worried tone and expression. Karkaroff seemed to have been a reasonably skilled wizard , as it was said that it was impressive how he remained hidden from Voldemort for so long after the latter's rebirth, although Voldemort was keeping a low profile during the Ministry's denial, and that Karkaroff's death occurred shortly after the Ministry finally saw and accepted Voldemort's return further enforces this as a reason for his year-long survival.
He was able to gain knowledge of a good number of Death Eaters' identities, despite Voldemort's tight secretive operations, including the otherwise undiscovered spy Augustus Rookwood , showing that he was at least skilled in intelligence gathering.
While the extent of his magical skills is unknown, Karkaroff must have been a skilled wizard, given that he was the Headmaster of Durmstrang as well as a former Death Eater. His skills were such that he was able to evade the likes of Alastor Moody and even Lord Voldemort himself for extended periods of time.
Severus Snape , a former fellow Death Eater. In his younger days, Karkaroff was a friend and comrade of Severus Snape. After being brought into the courtroom by two Dementors , Karkaroff was magically chained to a chair.
He expressed deep remorse for being involved with the Death Eaters something Alastor Moody doubted and presented the names of several Death Eaters.
Bartemius Crouch Snr, who preside over the trail announced that Dolohov was captured, and Evan Rosier was killed, around the same time as Karakroff's capture in the year before the fall of Voldemort.
